RSQUARE, a comprehensive commercial real estate service provider led by CEO Lee Yong-Kyun, announced on the 14th that it has obtained the international ISO45001 certification for its domestic real estate business division’s occupational health and safety management system. RSQUARE’s subsidiary, RSQUARE Design, previously acquired ISO45001 certification in the construction sector last year.
ISO45001 is an international standard certification granted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to companies with a systematic health and safety management system in place. There is increasing societal demand for occupational health and safety management, especially with the expansion of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act to businesses with fewer than 50 employees starting this year. For companies, building and implementing a health and safety management system has become a critical responsibility. RSQUARE plans to prioritize the safety of its employees, customers, and partners by identifying harmful and hazardous factors in accordance with international certification requirements.
RSQUARE will assess its compliance with ISO45001 standards and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. The company has allocated a separate budget for health and safety, creating a dedicated safety organization and processes to lead the real estate industry in occupational health and safety management. Additionally, it holds quarterly occupational health and safety committee meetings and conducts regular evaluations and training for those responsible for safety and health management oversight. RSQUARE stated, “It is unusual for a real estate company to receive certification for health and safety management, and this demonstrates the official recognition of our efforts to create a safe workplace.”
Moreover, RSQUARE was recognized for its ESG management efforts by receiving the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Award at the 30th Corporate Innovation Awards, co-hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. Recently, the company also participated in a safety and health management dialogue with the Korean Health and Safety Association, joining the "10 Million Signatures Campaign for Workplace Safety to Prevent Industrial Accidents and Occupational Diseases." RSQUARE further announced that it became the first company in the proptech industry to join the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), a UN-affiliated organization, emphasizing its commitment to safety, health, environmental, and quality management.
