RSQUARE DESIGN Plants Forests 4x the Size of Yeouido Park… Achieves ‘100% Resource Recycling’ for Interior Waste

▶ 1,200 tons of annual waste fully recycled, equivalent to planting 170,000 pine trees

▶ Collaboration with 'Jiguhada' and AI integration ensures transparency and a 5% reduction in costs

▶ Preemptive response ahead of the 2026 Seoul Metropolitan landfill ban; setting the ESG industry standard

RSQUARE DESIGN, a specialist in architecture and comprehensive interior design under RSQUARE, has achieved a landmark ESG milestone by resolving the industry's chronic waste issue, reaching a '0% landfill and incineration rate.'

According to RSQUARE on the 28th, the company successfully recycled the entire volume of waste generated from approximately 100 project sites over the past year. The total carbon reduction achieved through this initiative amounts to 1,090.2tCO₂, which is equivalent to planting roughly 170,000 30-year-old pine trees. In terms of area, this equates to covering the entire Yeouido Park (0.23㎢ ) with dense forest more than four times, or creating a massive green space (1.0㎢ ) the size of 140 international-standard soccer fields.

RSQUARE DESIGN announced on the 28th that in strategic partnership with ‘Jiguhada,’ a digital waste management platform and subsidiary of the energy innovation firm Chunil Energy, it processed 1,200 tons of construction waste generated from January to December of last year through full resource recovery and solid recovered fuel (SRF) methods.

■ Establishing an ESG Operating Model: From a '6-Month Experiment' to '1 Year of Proof

This achievement is deeply significant as it goes beyond a simple pilot phase to prove a ‘stable operating model’ on an annual basis. Following the validation of the resource recovery model’s potential by processing 620 tons of waste in the first half of 2025, RSQUARE DESIGN solidified this as a company-wide operating system by maintaining the same processing structure and data standards throughout the second half of the year.

The record of ‘Zero Landfill and Incineration’ achieved across 100 sites annually has become a key indicator for minimizing the environmental impact of waste discharged during the interior construction process. In particular, the carbon reduction performance, comparable to planting 170,000 pine trees across an area four times larger than Yeouido Park, is evaluated as a practical outcome that transcends mere ESG declarations.

■ Innovating a ‘Dark’ Market with Big Data… 'Multi-dimensional ESG' Captures Cost Reduction

RSQUARE DESIGN has achieved innovation not only in environmental metrics but also in management efficiency and governance. By linking ‘Jiguhada’s’ digital platform with RSQUARE DESIGN’s internal system, the entire process from waste discharge to final disposal has been digitized. This has brought complete visibility to previously opaque waste disposal routes, a long-standing issue in the interior design market.

Notably, by optimizing construction processes, the company reduced waste disposal costs by an average of 5%, realizing the principle that ‘eco-friendly management leads to cost efficiency.’ Clients can obtain transparent results through RSQUARE DESIGN’s data reports that can be reflected in their own ESG indicators, enhancing the company’s reputation as a trusted sustainability partner beyond mere space creation.

This performance is further supported by previously accumulated official certifications. Since 2022, RSQUARE DESIGN has maintained three major international standards: ISO 45001 (Safety and Health), ISO 9001 (Quality), and ISO 14001 (Environment). In particular, the company received the highest grade of ‘SA1’ in the Construction Safety Management Evaluation for two consecutive years, proving its execution power in integrated management by recording a perfect score of 1,000 points—equivalent to the top 0.1% in the industry.

Additionally, by joining the UNGC in October of last year, the company formalized its ESG management, including these waste recycling achievements, in accordance with global standards.

■ 2026 Metropolitan Direct Landfill Ban… A Case of ‘Preemptive Response’ Ahead of Policy Shifts

This achievement maximizes market competitiveness by presenting a response model to the industry immediately after the full ban on direct landfilling of household waste in the Seoul Metropolitan area took effect in 2026. Having practiced perfect resource circulation on-site a year ahead of the regulatory change, this performance serves as a practical alternative for corporate clients sensitive to shifts in the policy environment.

“We have proven a ‘Zero’ record of no landfilling or incineration at actual sites through a full year of data, rather than just empty ESG talk,” emphasized RSQUARE DESIGN. “We will continue to accelerate innovation in the ‘dark’ waste market through transparent electronic transfer notes and data tracking, establishing a unique governance that helps our partners realize carbon neutrality.”
