SEOUL, South Korea – RSQUARE, South Korea's leading commercial real estate service provider (CEO: Lee Yong-gyun), announced on the 8th that it has signed an industrial waste management contract with Jiguhada, a subsidiary of Chunil Energy, to bolster its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives.
Under the agreement, Jiguhada will manage the entire lifecycle of waste generated at RSQUARE’s project sites—from collection to final disposal. This partnership is expected to improve cost efficiency by reducing disposal expenses by approximately 5% compared to previous methods, resulting in tens of millions of won in annual savings.
RSQUARE has been a pioneer in sustainable business practices within the industry, becoming the first Korean proptech company to join the UN Global Compact (UNGC). The company also holds the international ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) certification and actively participates in the ESG Committee of the Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA). Recently, RSQUARE has taken the lead in fostering an ESG ecosystem by conducting health and safety mindset training for its partners' CEOs.
Chunil Energy, the parent company of Jiguhada, is the only firm in Korea that operates a fully integrated system covering waste transportation, collection, intermediate processing, and final treatment. With seven temporary storage sites and 12 processing facilities nationwide, the company has a vertical integration capacity to produce 500,000 tons of wood chips annually. Notably, 100% of the collected waste is recycled into eco-friendly energy, serving as a substitute for fossil fuels.
“This contract goes beyond simple waste disposal; it is a practical execution of ESG management alongside our partners,” said Sang-min Jung, Head of RSQUARE’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Department. “We will continue to build a sustainable real estate ecosystem by strengthening our safety systems and environmental management.”
Starting in February 2025, RSQUARE will launch a dedicated app to monitor waste disposal status in real-time. Jiguhada’s one-stop system ensures that the entire process—from collection to final treatment—is managed transparently through a digital platform.
“Increasing transparency in the waste management market is a critical mission of our time,” stated Sang-won Park, CEO of Chunil Energy. “As an advanced industry aligned with global standards like RE100 and ESG, we are excited to realize eco-friendly values together with RSQUARE.”
RSQUARE plans to further solidify its position as an eco-friendly leader in the real estate service sector through this partnership. Moving forward, the company intends to build a collaborative ESG ecosystem by establishing initiatives such as the "Safety Excellence Partner" award to grow alongside its business associates.
