▶ Industry’s first to achieve 'Zero Incineration & Landfill'... Proving ESG and profitability through data-driven systems
SEOUL, South Korea – RSQUARE, a leading comprehensive commercial real estate service provider, has set a meaningful record that challenges long-standing industry practices. The company announced on the 16th that during the first half of this year, it converted a total of 619.5 tons of construction waste into resources, completely avoiding incineration and landfilling.
This achievement is equivalent to reducing approximately 594.8 tons of carbon emissions, the amount of carbon absorbed by 90,000 trees in a year.
The significance of this result goes beyond mere numbers. In the commercial interior industry, where disposal routes have traditionally been opaque and incineration/landfill were taken for granted, RSQUARE has successfully demonstrated the first viable ESG model for "100% Resource Circulation" based on data
The core of this transformation lies in a data system developed from the field.
Starting in 2025, RSQUARE DESIGN, a subsidiary of RSQUARE, implemented a proprietary ERP-linked site management app across 600 construction sites nationwide. Through this app, site managers record the entire process in real-time, including the type and volume of waste, collection timing, and disposal methods.
Based on this collected data, 247.8 tons of waste synthetic resin were transformed into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF), 185.9 tons of waste wood into Bio-SRF, and 185.8 tons of wall materials into recycled construction aggregate. .
This systematic management led to economic benefits as well as environmental protection. By reducing waste disposal unit costs by more than 5%, the company proved that ESG management can be a competitive advantage rather than a mere expense.
This serves as a wake-up call in a market where many companies claim to be "eco-friendly" without concrete action plans or performance data. Much like how Tesla shifted the automotive industry through data and software, RSQUARE is setting a new standard by resolving inefficiencies and opaqueness in construction waste management through its data platform.
"ESG should not be about reports or packaging; it must be practiced in the field and proven with numbers," said Jang Yong-su, CEO of RSQUARE DESIGN. "This record gives us confidence that the commercial interior industry can turn ESG into a sustainable system, not just a slogan."
RSQUARE’s challenge does not stop here. This milestone is part of the integrated ESG management strategy the company is pursuing.
The same philosophy drives other initiatives, such as "Data Hub," which digitalizes real estate registers and floor plans, and consulting services that provide integrated information on green building certifications (G-SEED, LEED). By collaborating with "Jiguhada," a subsidiary of Chunil Energy, the company has refined its technical maturity by managing the entire waste lifecycle through data.
The impact of this six-month record is already spreading throughout the industry. Multiple partners have expressed interest in adopting similar waste management systems, suggesting that RSQUARE’s initiative is acting as a catalyst for change across the entire industrial ecosystem.
By emphasizing "actions over systems and people over numbers," RSQUARE is drawing a blueprint for a sustainable future in the commercial real estate market, turning hundreds of tons of waste back into vital resources.
