RSQUARE DESIGN, established in 2016, initially focused on office interior design. By 2022, it ranked 4th in the interior construction industry in Korea, marking a period of explosive growth. Recently, RsquareDesign has expanded its scope to include remodeling, new construction, and commercial spaces. This success is a result of the relentless efforts of its employees.
Leading this rapid growth is CEO Lee Seung-joo, who describes RSQUARE DESIGN as a “healthy young company.” We sat down with Mr. Lee to reflect on the last three years and learn more about his vision.
R: You've been with RSQUARE DESIGN for about three years now. What design strategy do you focus on the most?

Lee Seung-joo, CEO of R Square Design
Lee Seung-joo (Lee): In my first year, the phrase I heard most often was "growing pains."
While growing pains for children are defined as common and harmless, in business, it’s different.
We constantly strive for efficient and successful outcomes by learning from experience and testing new methods to drive healthy growth. That’s how RSQUARE DESIGN has evolved into an 8-year-old "healthy young company."
Older companies sometimes get stuck in their past successes, repeating outdated methods and missing out on new opportunities. At RSQUARE DESIGN, we actively pursue new ideas and embrace fresh approaches to maintain our competitive edge. This mindset sets us apart.
We offer a rare combination of services in Korea, linking real estate with space-related services, from furniture and appliances to expanding beyond offices into commercial spaces, remodeling, and construction.
We provide a "one-stop service" from start to finish, ensuring that we support the entire customer journey. Our goal is to make customer-focused, transparent, and standardized solutions that provide rational choices for clients.
R: RSQUARE DESIGN offers a comprehensive "Pre-con" service, which covers real estate investment, development, consulting, property management, leasing, and exit strategies. What is the strength of this approach?

Provides pre-con and one-stop service that sets you apart from others
Lee: RSQUARE DESIGN’s Pre-con service is unique. We start by understanding the client’s needs and then develop strategies based on the building's location and purpose. We offer leasing consultations, pre-construction assessments, technical proposals, and interior design services to ensure a clear understanding of the project from the outset.
This approach leads to high-quality construction and long-term value growth for the client’s assets. By combining the expertise of our different departments, we can offer a more comprehensive service, which is key to our continued growth.
R: What is your most memorable office design project, and why?
Lee: It’s been a whirlwind of activity, but one recent project stands out.
We partnered with a client in the retail industry, aligning with their strategy to secure future growth. The project involved building a new customer lounge for a high-end group of clients.
RSQUARE DESIGN participated in the construction of the top customer group lounge. Due to the nature of the department store, it was one of the difficult projects for the contractor due to the progress of construction in the open space and the delay in final decision-making. I was nervous before the opening day. In my experience, the construction of the department store was mostly chaotic and busy until the morning of the opening day.
On the day of the opening, the elevator door on the floor of the site opened, and I still vividly remember the youngest driver on the site. It was a moment when I was embarrassed to see that he calmly ordered the finishing work to the completion cleaning team, which is the final stage of the construction, until the off-season.
I understand how much effort and concern it takes to organize without a hitch on the day of opening, and I received a satisfaction evaluation from the customer's manager and a request from the designer to link subsequent projects. I have fully checked the possibility of R Square Design and I think it is a project that has raised expectations not only for offices but also for other commercial spaces.
R: RSQUARE DESIGN has started working on interior projects in Vietnam. What are your plans for this market?
Lee: Vietnam is a top destination for Korean construction firms, with active business expansion across various company sizes. The country’s rapid growth is fueled by political stability, abundant labor, a young population, and strong international openness.
RSQUARE began diversifying its business in Vietnam in 2021 by establishing a local branch. We now provide services such as leasing, sales advisory, and data solutions, leveraging a database of over 55,000 commercial properties in key regions. This innovative approach aims to provide integrated solutions.
Our expansion into Vietnam is another step in creating synergies between real estate and RSQUARE DESIGN. Our goal is to be with our clients every step of the way, from the start to the finish of their journey, regardless of region or country.
R: What are RSQUARE DESIGN’s future plans, and is there anything else you’d like to add?
Lee: First, fostering employee engagement and motivation is crucial for maintaining our company’s competitiveness. Sustainable growth relies on creating an environment where employees are excited about their work and can bring out their full potential.
I focus heavily on initiatives like professional training, encouraging multi-career development, enhancing employee benefits, and fostering a family-like company culture. My goal is for everyone to feel a sense of pride and belonging at RSQUARE DESIGN, making it a place where top talent wants to work.
Second, RSQUARE DESIGN has a customer service (CS) team that’s unique in the industry, providing support even after project completion. Our 12-person team delivers fast, accurate service whenever and wherever clients need it. Over the past three years, they’ve maintained an impressive satisfaction score of 4.93 out of 5. Beyond just maintaining high satisfaction, the team also gathers data on customer complaints to identify and address issues early, aiming for zero complaints from the start.
At RSQUARE, we don’t just design spaces – we design customer satisfaction.
