I recently visited the NC Culture Foundation, an organization established in 2012 by the renowned gaming company NC Soft.
For 13 years, the foundation has been actively fulfilling its social responsibilities through various innovative initiatives.
In 2019, the NC Culture Foundation opened its new space in Hyehwa-dong, Seoul, with interior design by RSQUARE DESIGN.

NC Culture Foundation's flagship initiative, "Projectory"
The foundation's flagship initiative, "Projectory" provides an environment where future generations can freely imagine and pursue their creative endeavors. During my visit to the Hyehwa-dong location, I witnessed this innovative program in action.
The main activity space serves as the heart of Projectory, where selected students gather monthly to engage in various creative activities. The design features floor-to-ceiling windows that create an open, airy atmosphere while preserving the building's original structure with refined finishing touches.
Practical considerations weren't overlooked – ceiling-mounted power outlets span the length of the room, enabling participants to power their devices from various positions during project work.

Another project space showcases a large central bulletin board visible from every seat in the room.

Tools and materials for projects are efficiently organized on a pegboard wall system. The space maximizes utility through thoughtful installation of shelving, pegboards, and display boards, eliminating the need for additional furniture.

A yellow board was installed in front of the window.

Spaces for Reflection and Creation
The foundation features dedicated areas for reading, discussion, and focused work. It's particularly noteworthy how a gaming company has prioritized spaces for contemplation and creative activities.

One of the most impressive features is the innovative use of corridor space. Sitting in this area offers a stunning view of the sky, demonstrating careful consideration of creators' movement patterns. Artificial plants along the walls create a nature-friendly atmosphere.

The music creation space
The music creation space efficiently utilizes corridor space.

Project Exhibition Spaces
while the exhibition area showcases student projects and hosts invited artists' exhibitions. This integration of creation and exhibition spaces under one roof maintains consistent design elements throughout.

Multipurpose Underground Venue
The basement houses a spacious, soundproofed area that hosts various events, from indie band performances to employee workshops. Mobile seating was installed to maintain flexibility for multiple uses.

Even the stairway corridors have been transformed into unique spaces. Rather than serving as mere passageways, these areas connect to the outside and provide peaceful spots where students can chat and reflect.
Next, we looked at the office space design of the cultural foundation's employees

Office Spaces Designed for Collaboration
The main area for staff meetings and activities offers exceptional openness – among the most impressive I've seen in office environments.

Outdoor meeting space
Outdoor meeting spaces are available for pleasant weather.

the office layout features efficient circulation with intermediate staircases. The overall design employs a black and white color scheme, creating a clean, modern atmosphere.

Modern Welcome Area
The lobby, which creates visitors' first impression, maintains the same modern design as the office spaces. It preserves the building's structure while maximizing openness to the outside, effectively connecting with the creative spaces. This area also serves as a waiting room for parents of participating students.
This visit highlighted how cultural foundation interiors require careful consideration of traffic flow and sightlines for creators. The space successfully balances stability with openness, creating an environment that truly supports creative endeavors.
